How we handle student data

A diagnostic only works if districts are comfortable with the data it collects. Here’s where we stand.

What we commit to

  • We never sell student data.
  • We never use student data for advertising.
  • We sign district data privacy agreements, including state templates.

How the product is built today

  • No advertising or analytics trackers. As SubjectPath is built today, the product itself carries no advertising or analytics trackers.
  • No AI scores student answers. Answers are scored against each question’s answer key and its tagged wrong answers.
  • Students submit only their own answers. A student account can answer only as that student.

Where to find more

Our Security page covers how access is based on each person’s role, how accounts and sign-ins are protected, and the security program SubjectPath follows. If your district has a data privacy agreement, send it to us while you’re evaluating SubjectPath.

Questions to ask any vendor

Whichever diagnostic you choose, these are fair questions to ask before signing:

  • Do you sell student data, or use it for advertising?
  • Will you sign our district’s data privacy agreement, or our state’s template?
  • Does the product carry advertising or analytics trackers?
  • How is access limited by each person’s role?
  • Is any part of scoring done by AI?

Our answers are on this page, and our Security page covers access and accounts in more detail.

Why this matters for a diagnostic

A diagnostic collects more than scores. It records each student’s answers and the misconceptions behind them. That makes the questions above worth asking of any vendor, and worth having answered in writing.
